In 2023, while working as a casual front-of-house reservations agent at Mercure Darwin Airport Resort, Taylah Besic was given an opportunity that would shape her future.

Encouraged by the Indigenous Training Academy Manager, she joined the Academy to complete a Certificate IV in Business through the Institute of Skills and Training Australia. What began as a chance to gain a qualification soon became a turning point.
Taylah embraced the traineeship while stepping into a new role as a Business Administration Assistant at the Airport Development Group (ADG) Business Centre. Balancing study with meaningful workplace experience, she grew in confidence and developed skills across many areas of business.

Taylah’s journey has been about more than her own growth. She shares her cultural story and training experience to inspire other Indigenous trainees, mentors those just starting out, and plays an active role in career expos and development programs.
Her resilience and openness to every learning opportunity have not only shaped her career but have also built her into a role model for others. Now having completed both a Certificate III and Certificate IV in Business, Taylah looks forward to continuing her studies in leadership and mentoring, with the goal of supporting others to reach their own aspirations.
